Bad Idea earned its name by committing to drinks that are willing to be wrong in interesting ways. The cocktail program has a real point of view — unusual ingredients, unexpected combinations, a bar that's thinking rather than just executing. On the right night with the right bartender, the drinks are worth the trip.
The food is not. The menu is bar snacks designed to slow your drinking without competing with it. That's the correct function for this type of operation, but it means showing up hungry is the wrong approach. The kitchen is not trying to be a restaurant and doesn't pretend otherwise.
Nope as a food destination. Worth knowing about as a cocktail bar with ambition. Don't eat here. Drink here after eating somewhere else.
The cocktail menu is deliberately off-center and occasionally delivers something genuinely memorable. The food is serviceable bar snacks that exist to extend the evening.
